It’s true, I still shoot weddings! I shoot a select number of weddings each season. My focus is on documenting my couples wedding day, capturing the special moments and details, with an emphasis on creative, natural, and timeless portraits. Each wedding and couple I shoot is unique and I love to play to the natural beauty of the couple and their location. I work with all types of couples, but mostly those planning vintage, DIY, often rustic, but always genuinely unique weddings. I'd love to hear more about your wedding, send me an email and let's chat wedding!

Andrea & Nick, Mountain Meadows Lodge Wedding

Somerby Jones October 1, 2014

On a dreary Saturday we headed up to Killington, VT to shoot a wedding I was so excited for at Mountain Meadows Lodge. I knew the wedding would be rustic and charming, but I didn't know just how much I would love the quiet, nestled in the woods, over looking-a-lake location. It was such a sweet gem in Killington.

Andrea and Nick were warm and welcoming when we arrived, getting ready for their big day and hoping the rain would hold off just long enough. Andrea and friends crafted all the decorations, keeping it personal and charming. While the boys played soccer and hung out, Andrea and her friends perfected her hair and watched as it rained on and off. It shows great testiment to Andrea and Nick's personalities that they chose to carry on despite the rain and take advantage of what seemed like a lull in the drops. It wasn't until they got to the alter, facing eachother ready to say "I Do" that the clouds opened up and really rained. It rained hard, but Andrea, Nick, their friends and family, they all embraced the rain and continued the ceremony. Despite getting wet, the cloud coverage of a rainy day makes for stunning light. After the ceremony, the rain subsided and I was able to capture great portraits with Andrea and Nick.

To top off what was already a great day, Andrea and Nick planned to send wishlanterns off into the night sky. I loved this unique touch. The lanterns being lit and floating off into the night was so beautiful and ended the night with everyone excited, smiling and happy to wish the newlyweds a lifetime of love.

I really appreciated Andrea and Nick's laid-back spirits and their willingness to not let rain deter them from having a great wedding. And I cannot thank their family and friends for making me feel so at home spending the day with them and to the staff at Mountain Meadows Lodge, especially Bill for making the day so wonderful.

Without further ado...
